The quay walls of Amsterdam
The characteristic canals and many bridges give Amsterdam its own character, which many people come to see every year. But the quay canals and bridges are vulnerable, especially around the historic center. With many millions of people and all kinds of (heavy) traffic, the quays have to endure a lot.
Recently, part of a quay wall collapsed. And this was not the first incident. In this podcast, Mandy Korff explains how Deltares, in collaboration with TU Delft, collects data and measures the status of the quay walls, with which the municipality of Amsterdam can better prioritize where renovations are needed and where they are not (yet).
